The Project

The new Senior School campus at St Luke’s Grammar School will feature a 25-metre indoor swimming pool, performance spaces, flexible multi-functional learning areas, and cutting-edge science and design laboratories. These collaborative and adaptable spaces will be fully accessible, supporting inclusive education for all students.

Catering to Years 10 to 12, the campus will be located within the heritage-listed Wormald building, currently occupied by Officeworks and Fitness First. A dedicated accessible pedestrian walkway will connect the Headland Road and Pittwater Road campuses, unifying and expanding the school’s overall footprint.

St Luke’s Grammar School is a co-educational Anglican institution that currently accommodates 1,092 students from Kindergarten to Year 12 at its main Dee Why campus. With the expansion, enrolments are expected to progressively increase to approximately 1,600 students upon completion of the development.

The Challenges

As the facility is both Heritage-Listed and a State Significant Development, it presents challenges in modifying existing structural elements such as stairs, narrow corridors, and thresholds. Ensuring accessible inter-campus connectivity also poses difficulties, particularly where public domain interfaces and grade changes affect smooth transitions between the new works and existing facilities.
